GOP Shut Out From Providing Input on Senate Health Bill

Posted on October 1, 2009

In a continuing show of bipartisanship, Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) stated today that the GOP will have no say in the merger of two committee bills for presentation on the Senate Floor.  Yes, I’m being sarcastic.

Senator Harkin, who took the late Senator Kennedy’s place as the Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, said:

“This will be a proposal by the Democrats to bring a bill on the floor. And that’s what I have said before, that the people of this country — I keep saying — the people of this country pretty overwhelmingly elected Barack Obama last fall and to make changes,” he said. “The people of this country overwhelmingly elected Democrats to the House and Senate.”

“We should be proposing the changes to be made,” he added.

Nice.

Oh, and by the way, due to overwhelming support, it will have a public option as well.
