White House Working Behind Scenes to Promote Public Option in Health Care Reform Bill

Posted on October 4, 2009

Although President Obama keeps telling us the Public Option Government Health Insurance Plan is not as important to him as it is to the far left, the Chicago Tribune  reports today that some of the Administration’s top officials are meeting almost daily to try and ensure some form of a public option will be included in the proposed health care bill.

President Obama himself is also making personal appeals to rank-and-file Democrats:

At the same time, Obama has been reaching out personally to rank-and-file Senate Democrats, telephoning more than a dozen lawmakers in the last week to press the case for action.

Administration officials are also distributing talking points and employing other campaign-style devices to rally support for passing a bill this fall.

No matter how much you hear in the media that the public option is dead, don’t believe it.  I won’t believe it until the bill passes without it.
