From CQ Politics:

President Obama is seeking to raise the government loan amount to small businesses through the Troubled Asset Relief Program from $2 million to $5 million.  Although President Obama has been quick to bail out those “too big to fail,” he’s shown little effort for the engine of our economy, the small business.

Well here’s why I think he’s pushing it (last paragraph of the article):

“The proposals mirror parts of legislation sponsored by Sen. Olympia J. Snowe , of Maine, a key figure in the health care debate. Democratic leaders are hoping Snowe, the ranking Republican on the Small Business Committee, will support their health care overhaul legislation when it hits the Senate floor later this year.”

Quid Pro Quo.
