From Dave Camp, the ranking Republican member of the House Ways and Means Committee:
Since the stimulus package was passed in February of this year, with a promise that it would keep unemployment under 8.5% and create 3,000,000+ new jobs by December 2010, employment has actually plummeted.
State payroll numbers show that 49 of the 50 states have lost jobs since February, totalling 2.7 million. The only state to gain jobs was North Dakota, which had a gain of 1,800.
The country would now have to gain 6,000,000+ jobs by the end of Dec. 2010 to meet the estimations of the stimulus plan. Click on the link to see a breakdown of losses by state.
