Underlings Visit Arizona While Obama Meets With Immigration Activists

Posted on June 28, 2010

After their June 3rd meeting, President Obama had finally sent a contingent to Arizona to meet with Governor Jan Brewer and hopefully relay the details of what the administration’s plans are in regards to the illegal immigration problems the state currently faces.

Details of exactly how many troops will come to Arizona were released by Terry Goddard, the Democrat Attorney General for the state who is most-likely the Democrat running for governor in November  AND who got a meeting with the administration officials BEFORE Governor Brewer.  How many of those troops will be coming to Arizona?:

PHOENIX – The feds are promising to have more than 520 troops on the Arizona-Mexico border within 30 days.

Attorney General Terry Goddard met with Obama administration officials in Tucson on Monday.

Goddard said they consider the deployment an emergency backup to plug the gap on the border.

“And, so that’s where the over 500 National Guard will help. It’s not going to solve the problem, but it helps in the short run,” he said.

“And, that’s what they were here to deliver.”

The administration told Goddard this is the just the beginning of a long-term border strategy.

520 troops to the Arizona border.  Wow, that’s going to be a big help….NOT.

Meanwhile, who was President Obama meeting with at the White House today?

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama is meeting with activists who are pressing him for action on immigration legislation and Arizona’s tough new enforcement law.

The meeting Monday at the White House includes prominent labor leaders and Hispanic activist organizations, according to participating groups. It comes as Obama faces calls to move forward on comprehensive immigration legislation, something he’s pledged to act on despite long odds of success.

Activists were also expecting an update on the administration’s plans to challenge Arizona’s contentious new law that requires police officers to question a person’s immigration status if there’s reason to suspect they’re in the country illegally.

Obama is meeting Tuesday with Hispanic lawmakers.

Yeah, the administration is REALLY SERIOUS about border enforcement.

UPDATE:  It looks like more than 520 troops will be coming to Arizona, yes the grand total is now 524.  Those 4 extra are sure to make all the difference in the world.
