A sampling of news stories and commentary related to illegal immigrants and illegal immigration:

  • Today was the big day that President Obama came out with his speech to push for “comprehensive immigration reform” for the millions of illegal immigrants in this country.  In effect he has proven John Kyl’s claim that the Democrats will not secure the border first, then deal with immigration reform.  He used his speech to take another swipe at Arizona’s new anti-illegal immigration law, SB-1070.  So what does Russell Pearce, author of SB-1070, have to say in response?  Click here to watch the video.  Jan Brewer, Governor of Arizona, also weighed in on President Obama’s speech.  She said it offered no answers to the problem.  Other Arizona politicians express their thoughts on President Obama’s speech here and here.
  • With training of law enforcement on the new SB-1070 law beginning, officers have been told that they expect activists to videotape them during their encounters with the public.  Activists are claiming that the law cannot be enforced without some type of racial profiling and they are probably hoping to catch something on video to try to prove their point.   If you’d like more information on the training tapes being used for SB-1070 KVOA in Tucson has posted them in detail.
  • Interim Maricopa County Attorney, Rick Romley, has cut off the funding Sheriff Joe Arpaio uses to conduct his workplace raids in search of illegal immigrants.
