A sampling of news stories and commentary related to illegal immigrants and illegal immigration:

  • It was a big day in federal court for Arizona as two of the major lawsuits against its new anti-illegal immigration law, SB-1070, are heard for the first time by the federal judge assigned to the case.  In the morning the judge will hear the lawsuit brought by the ACLU with a number of other organizations, and in the afternoon, the judge will hear arguments from the federal government to block the law.
  • Senator Jim DeMint’s attempt to block the federal government suing Arizona over its new SB-1070 law was defeated today in a 55-43 vote.  Two Republicans crossed the aisle to vote with Democrats.
