Muslims Block NYC Street for Friday Prayers

Posted on September 4, 2010

These pictures are from the pages of Mike Broomhead, a local radio talk show host in Phoenix at KFYI 550 AM, posted on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 12:46 pm (as the site updates his entries, you’ll have to go back through the previous pages to find the pics, they’re chronological).  They show Muslims blocking New York City traffic on a Friday afternoon in order to perform their afternoon prayers.   Since I wasn’t present, I can’t verify the authenticity of the time/location, so I’m taking his word on it:

This is an accurate picture of every Friday afternoon in several locations throughout NYC where there are mosques with a large number of Muslims that cannot fit into the mosque – They fill the surrounding streets, facing east for a couple of hours between about 2 & 4 p.m. – Besides this one at 42nd St & Madison Ave, there is another, even larger group, at 94th St & 3rd Ave, etc.

I’d be interested in knowing if this is a common occurrence. Anyone?
